A century ago, workers held jobs in industries because they had the following skills:

  1. mastery of a trade,
  2. following instructions,
  3. sociable,
  4. diligent,
  5. professionalism like

• competent,
• swift,
• straightforward,
• and open-minded.

Kenyan schools and colleges have done a good job teaching these skills and our learners still need these skills.

But in the 21st Century and in an information based economy there is need for the 21st Century Skills.
