People with HIV/AIDS
People living with HIV/AIDS
- Like other diseases, AIDS affects many people.
- It is a dangerous disease with no cure.
- It is mainly transmitted through sex so we must avoid getting involved in irresponsible behaviour.
- Infected mothers can pass the disease to their children during birth and through breast-feeding.
- One can also get HIV/AIDS by coming into contact with fresh blood from an infected person, if one has an open wound.
- However, one cannot get infected through shaking hands, feeding, sharing things with or hugging an infected person.
- Many people in Kenya have died from the disease. Some were perhaps our neighbours, friends, classmates or our relatives.
- People living with HIV/AIDS can live longer if they take good care of themselves.
- They can do so by eating a well-balanced diet and taking medicines known as anti-retrovi- rals (ARVs).
- In (Mark 1:34), we read that Jesus healed people suffering from different diseases.
How can we help people living with HIV/AIDS?
- Encourage them to eat a balanced diet and take their medicine to help them remain strong.
- Showing them love and support.
- We can fellowship together.
- We should comfort and encourage them to live with a positive attitude.
- We also need to help them in their activities.
