Christians and stranger

Christian obligation towards strangers

(Matthew 25:35, 38, 40, ) (Hebrews 13:1-3)

  • Strangers are people who are new to us.
  • When one is in a strange place, everything is new. You meet new people, see new buildings and so on.
  • Sometimes one may feel lost in that new place, unless people who know the place well give some assistance.
  • Strangers may find themselves in a situation where they have no clothes, food or shelter.
  • As Christians we should help and welcome strangers.
  • In Matthew 25:35, 38 and 40, Jesus tells us that we should welcome strangers into our homes. We should give them food, clothes and shelter.
  • In doing this we glorify God’s name.

  • (Hebrews 13:1-3 ) says that we should love one another as Christian brothers and sisters.
  • We should think of those in prison as if we were the ones in prison ourselves.
  • We should remember those who are suffering as if we were suffering with them.
  • As children we should always be cautious of strangers because not all strangers are good.
  • Some might take advantage of us and do evil things like rape us, give us drugs or infect us with STDs or STIs.
  • We should always ask our parents/guardians for permission before we bring strangers to our homes.
